Author Daniel Vandever, a Navajo from Haystack, and the grandson of Navajo Code Talker Joe Vandever Sr. visited Mrs. Holden's and Ms. Myer's classes on April 22nd. The students were absolutely enthralled by his storytelling and enjoyed every minute of his visit. Thank you Mrs. Black for setting this up for our students!

Natalie Chavez was the first student to receive a Golden Token to use for a new book from the Book Vending machine! She is pictured below with her dad, Jeremy Chavez and Superintendent Perez. Also pictured is the Tom Fitzimmons State Farm crew, as this State Farm office donated $500 to help purchase the first new books to fill the machine with. Thank you, State Farm!

Happy Earth Day! To celebrate our Earth, some of Mrs. Emerson's and Ms. Carpenter's students made outfits out of recycled materials.

Ms. Carpenter's third graders enjoyed an afternoon of bowling! Here are some pictures of this fun event.

Our fifth graders learned a lot and had fun as they got to participate in NASA's Mission to Mars Project.
What is Mission to Mars?
In this standards-aligned project, students learn about Mars, design a mission to explore the planet, build and test model spacecraft and components, and engage in scientific exploration. The unit takes students through seven stages, including learning about the planet, planning the mission, designing the spacecraft, launching, landing, surface operations, and sample handling.
